HCL Technologies shares fall over 9 percent after Q4 FY2026 results and weak FY2027 guidance

HCL Technologies shares declined more than 9 percent in early trade after the company reported Q4 FY2026 results and issued FY2027 growth guidance of 1 to 4 percent. The fall reduced market capitalisation and impacted founder Shiv Nadar’s net worth, according to Forbes data.

HCL Technologies shares declined sharply in early trading on Wednesday following the company’s latest quarterly earnings announcement, resulting in a significant erosion of investor wealth and impacting the net worth of founder Shiv Nadar.

The stock fell 9.20% on the Bombay Stock Exchange to ₹1,308.90 during morning trade. The decline reduced the company’s market capitalisation to approximately ₹3.55 lakh crore.

The movement followed the company’s financial results for the fourth quarter of FY2026, which reflected a mixed performance.

Net profit for the quarter stood at ₹4,488 crore, registering a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, compared with ₹4,307 crore in the corresponding period last year. Despite the increase, the reported figure was below market expectations.

The company also indicated that the global demand environment remains unstable, citing pressure from tariffs and cost reductions.

Operational revenue for the quarter rose 12.34% year-on-year to ₹33,981 crore, compared with ₹30,246 crore in the same period last year.

However, the company provided a revenue growth guidance of 1% to 4% for FY2027. The outlook triggered selling in the stock.

The decline in share price had a direct impact on the net worth of Shiv Nadar. According to the Forbes real-time billionaire list, his net worth stood at approximately $28.9 billion (around ₹2.07 lakh crore).

His wealth declined by 6.64% in a single day, translating into a loss of approximately $2.1 billion (around ₹27,000 crore).

Despite the decline, he remains among the world’s wealthiest individuals, ranked 84th on the list.

Shiv Nadar is the founder of HCL Technologies and is among India’s prominent industrialists, with contributions to education and social initiatives.
