The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to provide free written examination coaching, physical training and guidance to candidates preparing for recruitment to 800 police constable posts. The programme is aimed at providing better preparation opportunities to youth from rural and remote areas.
Under the initiative, candidates preparing for the police constable recruitment will receive free coaching for the written examination, physical test training, personality development and comprehensive guidance related to the recruitment process.
The government has said the programme is intended to provide candidates facing economic and geographical challenges with equal opportunities and help more local youth prepare for the selection process.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Director General of Police to organise free training camps for interested candidates in all armed police battalions across the state.
Experienced police officers and trainers will provide candidates with training in written examination preparation, the physical efficiency test, information related to interviews, discipline and personality development.

The government has stated that conducting recruitment alone is not sufficient and that candidates also need appropriate guidance and training to succeed. The programme is being introduced with this objective.
According to the government, the programme will primarily benefit youth from rural, remote and tribal areas who do not have easy access to expensive coaching or better training facilities. Economically weaker candidates will also be able to prepare for the recruitment examination without additional expenditure.
The Chief Minister said the state's youth are talented and hardworking. He said the government wants to ensure that the success of any eligible candidate is not affected by economic or geographical factors. The initiative will also help the police department recruit trained, disciplined personnel committed to public service.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission issued an advertisement for recruitment to 800 police constable posts on July 9, 2026. The police department will soon announce the detailed framework of the training programme, the list of training centres, the schedule and the registration process.
The government has urged interested candidates to regularly monitor updates issued through their nearest armed police battalion, district police office and the police department's official channels. This will enable them to register for the training on time and prepare for the recruitment process.
