Himachal Pradesh Opposition Criticizes 'Job Trainee' Scheme, Alleges Anti-Youth Policies

Political activity has intensified in Himachal Pradesh regarding the implemented 'Job Trainee' scheme. Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur has termed this scheme as injustice to the youth of the state, making serious allegations against the Sukhu government. He said that Congress, in its election promises, had assured the youth of lakhs of jobs, but after coming to power, it is dashing the hopes of the youth by imposing such schemes.

Questions Raised on the Government's Intentions

Jairam Thakur said that the policies of the Sukhu government are consistently proving to be anti-youth. He alleged that the government, upon coming to power, started closing down job-providing institutions and abolished all posts that had been vacant for two years on October 26, 2024, thereby eliminating the possibility of more than 1.5 lakh jobs in the state. Thakur said that the government finds various ways to benefit its close associates, but when it comes to giving the youth their rights, it backs down.

Employee Selection Commission Becomes a Sham

Jairam Thakur also questioned the government's intentions regarding the restoration of the Employee Selection Commission. He said that the commission was restored after two years, but even today, it is not fully functional. Neither are the dates of the examinations fixed, nor is there any concrete system. It is ironic that the same government, which came to power promising employment, is now only giving assurances to the youth.

Resentment Increased Due to Changes in Rules

Thakur also alleged that the government has made arbitrary changes in the recruitment process. Earlier, those completing two years of contract were regularized twice a year, but now this system has also been changed. Also, by bringing in the 'Job Trainee' policy, the contract period of the employees itself has been abolished, due to which there is a wave of opposition across the state.

The Leader of the Opposition appealed to the government to review its policies and work in the public interest. He said that this is the first such government which is bent on snatching facilities from the people instead of providing them.
