Car Accident: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, plunging the entire region into mourning. On Thursday night, large rocks suddenly fell from a mountain onto a car traveling from Bhajraru to Shrigar village in the Churah subdivision, causing the vehicle to lose control and plunge directly into a 500-meter-deep gorge. In this tragic accident, six members of the same family died on the spot.

How did the accident happen?

The incident occurred around 9:20 PM on August 7th. The Swift car, which was traveling from Bhajraru towards Shrigar, had a total of 6 people on board. As the car reached a turn, heavy rocks fell from above directly onto the moving vehicle. Due to the pressure of the rocks and the impact of the collision, the driver lost control of the car, and the vehicle plunged straight into the deep gorge.

After the incident, screams and cries erupted at the scene. Local villagers immediately informed the police and fire brigade. Shortly after, a rescue operation was launched under the leadership of DSP Saluni Ranjan Sharma. Reaching the vehicle that had fallen into the gorge proved to be quite challenging as the darkness and the rugged terrain further complicated the task.

All those who lost their lives in the accident were members of the same family. The deceased have been identified as follows:

  1. Rajesh Kumar – Worked as a teacher in a government school.
  2. Hanso – Rajesh Kumar's wife.

Role of Administration and Local People

After the accident, the administration and local villagers quickly took charge. With the help of the police, fire brigade, and local volunteers, the bodies were recovered from the gorge during the night. All the deceased were taken to the Civil Hospital Tisa, where post-mortem procedures are being carried out.

DSP Ranjan Sharma stated that this accident was not the result of any human error but was caused by a natural disaster. He also said that incidents of stones falling from the mountain are frequent in this area, and concrete steps need to be taken to prevent such accidents in the future.

Wave of Grief, Condolences from Leaders

A pall of gloom has descended over the entire area due to this tragic accident in the Chamba district. People are deeply shaken as six members of the same family have died together. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur have also expressed grief over this tragic incident.

Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur wrote on social media that the accident in Tisa, Chamba, is very sad. He said that he is with the bereaved family and prays to God to grant peace to the deceased and strength to the family to bear this immense grief.

Administrative Preparations Under Scrutiny

This accident once again raises questions about the security arrangements in mountainous regions. Incidents of rocks and debris falling from the mountains are frequent during the rainy season, but no permanent solution has been found for such sensitive areas. Local people are demanding that the administration prioritize safety nets and rockfall prevention measures on such routes.
