Police in Haryana’s Hisar district arrested two interstate narcotics traffickers linked to Jharkhand and recovered 2.727 kilograms of opium from their possession as part of an anti-drug trafficking campaign. The seized opium is estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees in the international market.
Police said the operation is being treated as part of an organised narcotics trafficking network involved in the supply of illegal drugs across multiple states.
The arrested accused were identified as Shivdayal Kumar Yadav, a resident of Salaiya village, Jori Khurd, Chatra district, Jharkhand, and Aklesh Kumar, a resident of Muraina village under Vashisht Nagar Jori police station in Chatra district, Jharkhand.
Preliminary investigation indicated that both accused had been active in the illegal narcotics trade for a prolonged period and were linked to supply chains operating in different states.
According to police, the CIA Hisar team was conducting routine patrol and crime detection operations near the Jhiri bridge area at Agroha Mor when it received information about two suspects carrying a large quantity of opium with the intention of selling it in the area.
Acting on the information, the police team conducted a raid after laying a cordon near the Lale Da Dhaba area close to Jhiri bridge.

Police said the two accused attempted to flee after noticing the police team, but were apprehended shortly after due to the prompt action of the CIA personnel.
During the search, police recovered a total of 2.727 kilograms of opium from their possession. The contraband was seized and both accused were taken into custody.
Police registered a case against the accused at Agroha police station under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Officials said the case could be linked to a larger narcotics trafficking network and that further investigation is underway. The accused are being questioned to identify the full supply chain and their contacts.
Investigators are examining the source of the seized opium and the areas where it was intended to be supplied.
Police are also probing whether the network extends to other districts of Haryana or neighbouring states. Officials suspect the operation may be part of an organised interstate trafficking network active for an extended period.
The CIA Hisar team said the campaign against narcotics trafficking in the district would continue with strict enforcement measures. Police stated that no individual involved in the illegal trade would be spared, irrespective of their state affiliation.
Officials added that the campaign would focus not only on arrests but also on dismantling the entire trafficking network.
