India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and b winds across 26 states on August 27 amid active monsoon conditions. Wind speeds may reach 80 to 85 kilometres per hour in some areas, while isolated regions may also face hailstorms, lightning and landslide risks.
On August 27, weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Telangana and Sikkim.
Several areas may receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and b winds. The risk of lightning is expected to remain in eastern and northeastern India.
According to the weather department, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is present over northeast Assam and adjoining areas. It is likely to move west-northwestwards, which may increase rainfall activity over Jharkhand and neighbouring states.
Moist winds from the Bay of Bengal may also affect weather conditions across eastern and central India. Some areas may experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning.
Delhi is likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on August 27, with wind speeds reaching around 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 29 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and affect traffic.

An alert for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Agra, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Mathura, Mainpuri, Etawah and Aligarh. Lucknow is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.
In Bihar, heavy rainfall is likely in Rohtas, Kaimur, Patna, Gaya, Bhojpur, Buxar, Aurangabad, Gopalganj, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Munger, among other areas. Wind speeds may reach 60 to 65 kilometres per hour.
Rain and thunderstorm activity may remain intense in Jharkhand on August 27 and 28. Ranchi and several other districts are expected to receive heavy rain accompanied by b winds.
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may also face landslide risks due to heavy rainfall. Special caution has been indicated for areas including Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Nainital, Rudraprayag, Pauri and Tehri. In Himachal Pradesh, rain and b winds are forecast in Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur and Solan, among other districts.
Rain and b winds are possible in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu, Kishtwar, Poonch, Kupwara, Anantnag, Reasi, Udhampur and Ramban.
Several districts of Rajasthan may also experience rain and thunderstorms on August 27. Weather conditions may remain unsettled in Jaipur, Bikaner, Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Pali, Sri Ganganagar and Chittorgarh, among other areas.
Jaipur is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius.
