Indian Stock Market Today: Gift Nifty Signals Weaker Opening, Nifty Seen in 24000–24700 Range

Gift Nifty was down 28 points at 24,368 in early indications. Nifty may trade in the 24,000–24,700 range, while Juniper Green Energy, ICICI Prudential AMC, Foseco India, Aye Finance and Fino Payments Bank remain in focus.

Indian equity markets are indicated to open on a weaker note on August 27, 2026. At around 7:30 a.m., Gift Nifty was trading 28 points, or 0.11 percent, lower at 24,368.

Global geopolitical uncertainties and investor caution may keep the market range-bound. The decline in Brent crude oil prices, with crude trading around $85 per barrel, is a key market factor. Uncertainty over global political and economic conditions, however, remains.

Market experts expect the consolidation phase in the Nifty to continue, with the index likely to trade within a broad range of 24,000 to 24,700. Investors will track global cues, crude oil prices and new corporate announcements. Shares of several companies may see activity due to corporate updates, block deals, financial results and regulatory developments.

Juniper Green Energy reported a 54.2 percent increase in profit to Rs 33.5 crore, compared with Rs 21.7 crore in the same period last year. Revenue increased 81.2 percent to Rs 291.2 crore from the year-earlier period.

Prudential Corporation Holdings plans to sell a 2 percent stake in ICICI Prudential AMC to comply with minimum public shareholding (MPS) requirements. The proposed offer is estimated at around Rs 3,121 crore. Promoters held a total 87.6 percent stake in the company as of June 2026.

Morganite Crucible and Morgan Terasen BV may sell their entire 15.27 percent stake in Foseco India through a block deal. The potential transaction is valued at around Rs 664.4 crore, with a floor price of Rs 5,773.63 per share.

Alpha Wave India I LP may sell its entire 7.8 percent stake in Aye Finance. The block deal could be valued at around Rs 320.4 crore, with a reported floor price of Rs 167 per share.

The Reserve Bank of India has approved a three-month extension of Ketan Merchant’s tenure as interim CEO of Fino Payments Bank. The extension will take effect from August 27, 2026, or continue until the regular Managing Director and CEO assumes office.
