The fourth India-Africa Forum Summit IV between India and the African Union has been postponed. The high-level diplomatic summit was scheduled to be held in New Delhi from May 28 to May 31 but has now been deferred to a later date following mutual consultations.
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the decision was taken after discussions between the Government of India and the African Union, with both sides agreeing to postpone the summit and announce new dates at a later stage. The ministry stated that the decision was made in view of emerging public health conditions in parts of Africa.
The MEA said the decision was taken considering emerging health challenges in certain regions of the African continent and the need for public health preparedness. Both sides emphasised that strengthening the health response capacity of African countries remains a priority at this stage. In this context, the role of Africa CDC was described as significant, and India reiterated its commitment to supporting the institution’s efforts.

India reaffirmed its long-term partnership and solidarity with African countries and stated that cooperation in areas such as public health, development and capacity building would continue. The MEA said India and the African Union remain committed to working with African governments and people to strengthen health systems.
According to the government statement, discussions between India, the Chairperson of the African Union and the African Union Commission concluded that postponing the summit for some time would be more appropriate. The decision is aimed at ensuring full participation of African leaders and stakeholders in the future conference.
The Ministry of External Affairs said new dates for India-Africa Forum Summit IV and related events will be decided through mutual consultations and announced at an appropriate time. India and Africa continue to expand cooperation in areas including trade, energy, digital collaboration, health and education.
