A controversy has emerged around the satirical platform “Cockroach Janata Party,” which has gained rapid traction across digital platforms in India in recent days and has been viewed by some users as a new form of political satire. On Thursday, its X account was blocked in India, intensifying debate around the platform and prompting wider discussion on freedom of expression and digital censorship.

Following the restriction, a new account titled “Cockroach Is Back” was launched and gained thousands of followers within hours, further expanding online discussion regarding platform moderation and digital speech.

He also appealed to supporters to ensure that the movement proceeds peacefully and responsibly and to avoid any activity that could provide authorities with grounds for strict action.

The original X account of “Cockroach Janata Party,” which had accumulated more than 200,000 followers within days, was blocked in India on Thursday. Following the action, platform founder Abhijeet Deepke launched a new account titled “Cockroach Is Back.”

Deepke claimed that the restriction reflected a serious administrative and free-expression issue. According to him, the new account gained approximately 16,800 followers within hours of launch, which he said reflected the movement’s popularity.

The digital movement has extended beyond social media and is receiving support from young people, activists, artists, and internet users. Some view it as a form of satirical political expression, while others see it as a new form of digital protest.

The controversy began following remarks linked to the Chief Justice of India during a court hearing in which the use of terms such as cockroaches and parasites became a subject of dispute.

Subsequently, the Chief Justice clarified that the remarks had been misrepresented and were specifically directed at cases involving fake degrees and individuals allegedly entering professions through improper means.

Despite the clarification, debate over the remarks intensified on social media, and in that context, the satirical digital platform “Cockroach Janata Party” was launched on May 15.

Within days of its launch, the platform gained rapid visibility on social media, generating widespread discussion around its content and being viewed by some users as a new digital form of political satire.

Some users described it as an example of freedom of expression, while others questioned its format and content. The platform also accumulated millions of followers in a short period, making it a prominent digital trend.

Following the blocking of the X account, the issue has renewed debate over tensions between government action and digital expression. Supporters argue that the move raises questions about freedom of expression, while critics regard it as a decision taken under digital regulations and platform policies.

Experts say satirical political platforms of this nature may generate further debate and controversy in the future, particularly when they gain rapid popularity.

The matter involving “Cockroach Janata Party” is currently progressing at both legal and digital levels. The founder has indicated possible legal action, while support and criticism on social media continue.

According to digital experts, the case may become an example in future discussions in India concerning online expression, satire, and platform moderation.
