India Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Multiple Regions, IMD Issues Warnings

Continuous rainfall in various parts of the country is relentlessly adding to people's woes. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the likelihood of heavy rainfall in several regions in the coming days.

Weather Forecast: The monsoon is in full swing in India. Torrential rains are disrupting life in different parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall across the country in the coming week. From Delhi to Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, and from the plains to the mountains, the rain will continue. At the same time, many parts of western, eastern, and southern India are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Rain Likely in Delhi-NCR Too

Regarding the weather in Delhi-NCR, the Meteorological Department has informed that light to moderate rain is possible in the capital Delhi on July 22, 2025. Along with this, there are also indications of b winds and rain with thunder and lightning. The Meteorological Department estimates that light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning will continue at most places in the Western Himalayan region and at some places in the plains during the next 7 days.

Monsoon to Wreak Havoc in North India

According to the Meteorological Department, very heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab from July 22nd. Heavy rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on July 23rd. An orange alert has been issued in six districts, including Dehradun, in Uttarakhand.

  • Jammu & Kashmir: Heavy rainfall from July 22nd to 23rd.
  • Himachal Pradesh: From July 23rd to 27th.
  • Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana: From July 23rd to 24th.
  • Western Uttar Pradesh: July 23rd and 26th-27th.
  • Eastern Uttar Pradesh: From July 25th to 27th.
  • Eastern Rajasthan: Heavy rainfall on July 27th.

Chances of Heavy Rain in Goa and Maharashtra

The monsoon is also active in the coastal regions of western India. A warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for the coastal areas of Konkan, Goa, and central Maharashtra from July 22nd to 27th.

  • Marathwada: July 22nd.
  • Gujarat: Heavy rainfall on July 22nd, 26th, and 27th.
  • These areas will continue to experience light to moderate rainfall with b winds.

Central and Eastern India Also to Receive Rainfall

There are no signs of relief from rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

  • West Madhya Pradesh: Heavy rainfall on July 26th-27th.
  • East Madhya Pradesh: July 25th-27th.
  • Vidarbha and Jharkhand: July 24th-25th.
  • Chhattisgarh and Odisha: Heavy rainfall from July 23rd-26th.

Along with this, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain with b winds in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Bengal.

Heavy Rain Warning in Northeast India Too

  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands: July 22nd.
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim: July 22nd, 25th-27th.
  • Gangetic West Bengal: July 23rd-27th.
  • Bihar, Jharkhand: July 24th-27th.
  • These areas will continue to experience b winds (30-40 kmph) and thunderstorms.

Rain in South India

Many parts of South India are also likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days.

  • Kerala, Karnataka: July 25th-27th.
  • Telangana: July 22nd-23rd.
  • Coastal Karnataka: July 22nd-27th.
  • Tamil Nadu: July 22nd.
  • Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema: July 22nd-23rd.

Also, b winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to blow in South India during the next 5 days. The India Meteorological Department has advised people to be alert and avoid unnecessary travel. The risk of landslides in hilly areas and flooding for those living along rivers may increase. The Meteorological Department has said that road, rail and air traffic may be affected due to heavy rains.
