The Indian women's cricket team is considered a b contender for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025. India and Sri Lanka are jointly hosting this tournament. However, the Indian team's preparations had a somewhat rough start.

Sports News: The Indian women's cricket team suffered a significant setback in their first practice match for the ODI World Cup 2025. India faced a crushing 153-run defeat at the hands of England Women. This match was played at the BCCI CEG ground in Bengaluru. This loss by the Indian team raises questions about their ODI World Cup preparations, while England's captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and batter Emma Lamb put up a brilliant performance.

England's Explosive Start

Batting first, the England team scored 340 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 120 runs off 104 balls with the help of 13 fours and 2 sixes before retiring out. Meanwhile, Emma Lamb scored 84 runs off 60 balls, hitting 12 fours, establishing a b position for England. This partnership left no respite for the Indian bowlers, setting up a massive total.

For India, Kranti Gaud was the most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs in 5 overs. Additionally, Renuka Singh, Arundhati Reddy, Shri Charan, and Sneh Rana each claimed one wicket. However, these efforts could not save the Indian team from defeat. India's batting was also disappointing. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues scored 66 runs off 68 balls with the help of 8 fours. Opener Uma Chetry played an innings of 45 runs but missed out on a half-century. In total, the Indian team was all out for 187 runs in 34 overs.
