The Ministry of Defence has planned the procurement of technologies like over 100 HALE and VTOL aircraft, stratospheric airships, UCAVs, high-energy lasers, and electromagnetic weapon systems, with an investment of billions of rupees. The objective of this initiative is to maintain strategic superiority over neighboring countries like China and Pakistan and to effectively target enemy locations without crossing borders. Recent exercises, such as Operation Sindoor, have already demonstrated this capability.
Stratospheric Airships and High-Tech Drones
The most significant component of this plan is the stratospheric airships, with at least twenty units to be acquired. These airships will function as floating platforms in the sky, providing real-time intelligence and communication. Additionally, the Air Force will require over 300 high-altitude drones, 75 high-altitude pseudo-satellites, and 5 multiband radio frequency sensor satellites.
These assets will grant the Air Force continuous surveillance and remote operation capabilities. The drones and satellites will be capable of sustained flight above 30,000 feet, enabling close monitoring of enemy activities.
Advanced Aircraft and Laser Systems
The Air Force also plans to acquire over 100 HALE and VTOL aircraft, high-energy laser systems, and stealth Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs). UCAVs will be capable of undertaking missions within enemy territory without human crew. Furthermore, the procurement will include high-power electromagnetic weapon systems, over 250 anti-swarm drone systems, and more than 20 directed energy weapons.
These modern weapons will empower India to engage in warfare from space and the skies. This preparation by the Air Force will set a new benchmark for the nation's security for the next decade and beyond.
