Led by star boxer Nikhat Zareen, Indian women boxers delivered an outstanding performance at the World Boxing Cup Finals on Thursday, securing seven gold medals.
Sports News: Indian boxers showcased a magnificent performance at the World Boxing Cup Finals, bagging a total of 20 medals. These medals included 9 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze. Notably, 7 of these gold medals were won by women boxers, who dominated throughout the tournament.
Star boxers Nikhat Zareen, Jasmine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Parveen Hooda, Arundhati Choudhary, Meenakshi Hooda, and Nupur Sheoran played a crucial role in securing India's top position by emerging victorious in their respective final bouts. Meanwhile, for the men's team, Sachin Siwach and Hitesh Gulia clinched gold medals with their excellent performances.
Golden Gleam of Indian Women Boxers
The Indian women's team captivated the world's attention with their powerful performance in this tournament. Current World Champion Jasmine Lamboria (57 kg) and emerging talent Meenakshi Hooda (48 kg) both secured gold medals with brilliant victories. Asian Games bronze medalist Preeti Pawar (54 kg) also continued her excellent form, defeating Italy's World Championship medalist Sirine Charrabi in the final.

World Championship medalist Parveen Hooda (60 kg), former Youth World Champion Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg), and Nupur Sheoran in the +80 kg category also added continuous achievements to India's tally by winning gold medals. In one of the most talked-about bouts, Jasmine registered one of the tournament's biggest victories by defeating Paris Olympics medalist Wu Shih-Yi 4-1.
Meanwhile, two-time World Champion Nikhat Zareen (50 kg) secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Chinese Taipei's Guo Yi-Hsuan, further solidifying the Indian contingent's lead.
Strong Performance by Men Boxers
In the men's category, Indian boxers also delivered outstanding performances, securing two gold medals for the country. Sachin Siwach clinched the title by defeating Kyrgyzstan's Munarbek Ulu Seiitbek 5-0. Hitesh Gulia made a b comeback after a slow start, overcoming Kazakhstan's Nurbek Mursal 3-2. Additionally, Jadumani Singh (50 kg), Abhinash Jamwal (65 kg), Pawan Bartwal (55 kg), Ankush Phangal (80 kg), Narendra Berwal (90 kg), and Pooja Rani (80 kg) won silver medals. Former champions Neeraj Phogat, Sweety, Sumit Kundu, Jugnu, and Naveen contributed to India's medal tally with bronze medals.
