A welcome announcement for devotees traveling to Baba Baidyanath Dham, Deoghar during the auspicious Sawan month has been made. The Railway has decided to operate a special train service from July 9th to August 11th, keeping in mind the convenience of the pilgrims.
Indian Railway: As the holy month of Sawan begins, devotees from across the country embark on the Kanwar Yatra to the major abode of Lord Shiva – Baba Baidyanath Temple (Deoghar, Jharkhand). Keeping in mind the devotees from Purvanchal, the Indian Railways has provided significant relief. A special train service is commencing from the Gorakhpur-Badhni route to Deoghar, which will make the journey of thousands of devotees easier and more convenient during the Sawan month.
Baba Dham Shrawani Mela Special Train to Run from July 9th to August 11th
The North Eastern Railway administration has informed that special train number 05028/05027 will run from Badhni to Deoghar via Gorakhpur from July 9th to August 11th, 2025. This train is being operated keeping in mind the Shrawani Mela, in which lakhs of devotees from Gorakhpur and Deoria districts depart every year to offer water to Lord Shiva in Deoghar.
The operation of this train holds special significance for Purvanchal because this area has been a major center for Kanwariyas (pilgrims). With the running of this train, they will no longer have to face unnecessary crowding in buses or trains.

- Destination: Deoghar (01:00 PM the next day)
2. Train Number 05027 (Deoghar to Badhni)
- Start Date: July 10, 2025
- Departure Time: 06:45 PM (from Deoghar)
- Route: Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, Begusarai, Barauni, Hajipur, Chhapra, Siwan, Maerwa, Bhatni, Deoria, Gorakhpur (09:30 AM), Anandnagar, Siddharthnagar
- Destination: Badhni (12:30 PM)
- Coach Arrangement: Sufficient space for all devotees
Pankaj Kumar Singh, the Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway, said that there will be a total of 15 coaches in this special train. These include:
- 6 sleeper class coaches
- 7 general class coaches
- 2 coaches reserved for guard and brake van
This arrangement ensures that passengers from all sections, especially economically weaker devotees, can complete their journey without any hassle.
Major benefit from Gorakhpur
This train will depart from platform number 2 from Gorakhpur Junction. Gorakhpur is not only a major railway junction in Purvanchal but also from where thousands of devotees depart for Baba Dham every year. The Railways making this station a major stop is considered a right step for the convenience of the passengers. Every year during the month of Sawan, lakhs of devotees from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Bengal reach Deoghar for the Jalabhishek Yatra of Baba Baidyanath. This special train is not only convenient for these devotees, but also promotes the spirit of the Kanwar Yatra.
