Indian stock market opens higher as Nifty rises 106.75 points InterGlobe Aviation NMDC and IREDA in focus

Indian benchmark indices opositive global cues and corporate developments. Shares of InterGlobe Aviation, NMDC, Inox Wind and IREDA remained in focus following quarterly results and sector-specific developments.

Indian equity markets opened higher on June 1, with benchmark indices posting gains in early trade amid positive global cues and select corporate updates. The Nifty opened at 23,654, up 106.75 points, while the Sensex also traded with b gains.

Investor attention remained focused on aviation, mining, energy, and renewable energy stocks during early market activity. Market participants tracked positive international developments and company-specific earnings updates that supported sentiment at the opening.

Positive sentiment in international markets provided support to Indian equities. Reports related to a potential 60-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran contributed to investor optimism. If implemented, the development could reduce military tensions in the Middle East and improve stability in global energy supply chains and key maritime trade routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz. The developments supported risk appetite across international equity markets.

Market analysts, however, said geopolitical conditions remain sensitive and cautioned that regional tensions could continue to contribute to financial market volatility.

Shares of InterGlobe Aviation, which operates the IndiGo brand, were among the most closely watched during the trading session. The stock gained nearly 5 percent after the company released quarterly results. Although the company reported a loss for the quarter, investors responded to revenue growth and future demand prospects.

Analysts said rising domestic and international air travel demand could support the company’s performance in the coming months. Increasing passenger traffic and expansion plans in the aviation sector also contributed to investor interest.

Shares of NMDC also gained after the state-run mining company reported notable growth in quarterly earnings and profit. Year-on-year growth in profit and expansion in revenue indicated sustained iron ore demand and production activity, prompting positive investor reaction in early trade.

In contrast, shares of Inox Wind declined after the company’s quarterly results came in below expectations. Investors booked profits following declines in both profit and revenue, resulting in a negative market reaction. Analysts said long-term growth prospects for India’s wind energy sector remain intact, although investors may remain focused on financial performance in the near term.

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) also remained in focus. The government-backed financial institution reported a marginal decline in net profit, while double-digit growth in net interest income supported its operational performance. Expanding green energy projects in India and rising investment interest in renewable energy continued to keep IREDA on investors’ radar.
