A retired employee in Sultanpur has alleged fraud and extortion linked to a contracting-related financial transaction, claiming that around Rs 25 lakh was collected from him under the pretext of a contract worth Rs 9.5 lakh. The complainant also alleged that when he sought the return of his money, the accused threatened him at gunpoint and forcibly obtained his signatures on stamp papers.

After no action was allegedly taken by the local police, the complainant approached the court, following which a case was registered against the accused on judicial directions and an investigation was initiated. The incident has become a subject of discussion in the area.

According to the complainant, several individuals persuaded him to invest in a contract and assured him of substantial returns. Trusting them, he allegedly handed over large sums of money to the accused at different times. He claimed that the total amount gradually reached Rs 25 lakh, although the original contract was said to be worth Rs 9.5 lakh.

The complainant alleged that when he began suspecting irregularities in the transaction and sought the return of his money, the behaviour of the accused changed. He claimed that threats were issued to him and that pressure was exerted on one occasion by displaying a firearm. The complaint further stated that he was forced to sign stamp papers to allegedly weaken any future claims.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the court directed the police to register a first information report and conduct an investigation. Following the court order, the case was registered and the investigation process moved forward. Police are now examining documents, bank transactions and other evidence to verify the allegations.

Officials of the Uttar Pradesh Police said statements from all parties involved would be recorded. They said the allegations made by the complainant would be investigated impartially and further action would be taken based on the facts that emerge.

According to legal experts, documents related to financial transactions, bank records, stamp papers and witness statements play an important role in such cases. These aspects are examined in detail during the course of an investigation.

The matter is currently under investigation. Following the FIR registered on court orders, police have begun collecting evidence. The actual circumstances of the case will become clear only after the investigation is completed and the allegations are verified. Meanwhile, the complainant has demanded the return of his money and strict action against the accused.
