Indian equity markets opened Thursday’s trading session with gains, with the Sensex and Nifty advancing in early trade amid global cues.
The BSE Sensex rose 545.29 points, or about 0.71%, to 77,454.97, while the NSE Nifty gained 134.80 points, or about 0.56%, to 24,213.10.
Buying was seen across several sectors, including IT, banking, FMCG and realty. According to early trading data, around 1,402 stocks were trading higher, while 544 declined. Around 145 stocks recorded no major change.

The market had seen several weaker sessions before Thursday’s opening gains. Analysts are watching whether the early gains sustain through the trading session. Global market movements, foreign investor activity and key economic indicators could influence market direction.

Infosys shares gained about 1.73% in early trade. Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Wipro and TCS also witnessed buying. The gains in IT stocks supported the Nifty IT index, which was up about 0.90% in early trading.
Among the major Nifty 50 gainers, Shriram Finance led with a gain of about 2.58%. Infosys rose 1.54%, Bajaj Finance gained 1.53%, Eternal advanced 1.48%, and Kotak Mahindra Bank rose 1.41%.
HDFC Bank gained about 0.89% and Kotak Mahindra Bank rose around 0.88% in early trade. ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv also traded higher. The Nifty Bank index was up about 0.52%.
Hindalco shares declined about 1.61% in early trade. ONGC fell 1.43%, Coal India declined 0.79%, Max Healthcare dropped 0.70%, and NTPC was down about 0.45%. M&M, JSW Steel and Power Grid Corporation were also among the weaker stocks.
At the sectoral level, Nifty IT gained about 0.90%, Nifty Realty rose 0.64%, and Nifty Bank advanced 0.52%. The FMCG, Pharma and MNC indices also traded in positive territory. Nifty Energy and Nifty PSE, however, recorded marginal declines.
