Wednesday trading opened with gains in the Indian stock market. In the early session, the Sensex rose by around 200 points to 74,640.85, while the Nifty traded above 23,350. Buying in shares of several major companies supported the market. Shares of both major Bajaj Group companies and Asian Paints gained up to around 2%.
The previous session on Tuesday had remained under pressure for investors. Although the market recovered from the day's low, the gains did not hold until the close, and the key indices ended lower. Against this backdrop, the market's subsequent direction remained under focus, with global cues and technical levels being watched.
In early Wednesday trading, the Sensex reached 74,640.85, up 111.77 points, or around 0.14%, from the previous close. The Nifty traded at around 23,367, recording a gain of around 38 points, or 0.16%. Buying in select large-cap stocks supported the key indices in early trade.
Both Bajaj Group companies and Asian Paints gained around 2%. Buying in these stocks supported the key indices during the opening session.

The Indian rupee also recorded a marginal improvement on Wednesday. In early trading, the rupee strengthened by 5 paise against the US dollar to 95.57. Easing crude oil prices and a broad recovery in Asian currencies were cited as key factors behind the rupee's early gains.
Crude oil prices are important for the Indian economy because the country meets a large share of its energy requirements through imports. Easing crude oil prices can reduce import costs and the pressure on the rupee.
From a technical perspective, the coming trading sessions could be important for the Nifty. A bearish engulfing pattern is said to have formed on the daily chart. In technical analysis, such a pattern is viewed as a potential indication of weakening recent gains.
The 23,300 level is considered an immediate support for the Nifty. If the index moves below this level, weakness could extend towards around 23,000. On the other hand, 23,400 is an important immediate resistance level. Sustained trading above this level could signal renewed strength and the Nifty could move towards 23,600.
In the near term, the Nifty could see consolidation, with trading fluctuations remaining within a limited range. In terms of the broader technical range, the index is expected to remain between 23,115 and 23,650.
