Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following Iran’s claim that it shot down two United States military aircraft, the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the F-15E Strike Eagle. The development has intensified the situation amid ongoing friction between Iran and the United States.

According to reports, Iran stated that it downed the US fighter jets, prompting concern over the status of an F-15E crew member. The individual reportedly ejected over Iranian territory after the aircraft was hit, raising uncertainty over possible capture or harm.

US President Donald Trump declined to disclose any plans for a potential response related to the missing crew member. He stated that the loss of US aircraft constitutes a serious situation and described it as “war,” telling NBC News, “This is war and we are at war.” He also said that ongoing diplomatic engagements between the United States and Iran would not be completely derailed by the incident.

Trump refused to share operational details related to rescue efforts or military strategy, citing concerns over mission security. He also expressed dissatisfaction with media coverage, stating that the release of certain information could pose risks.

The condition and whereabouts of the F-15E crew member remain unclear. In a brief interview with The Independent, Trump declined to comment on whether the individual was alive or had been captured, stating, “I cannot comment on that,” before ending the call.

Iran has also claimed responsibility for downing an A-10 Thunderbolt II near the Strait of Hormuz. The pilot of the A-10 reportedly ejected safely and was recovered in Kuwaiti airspace. According to the Pentagon, recent conflicts in the Gulf have resulted in hundreds of US personnel being injured and multiple fatalities. The situation involving the missing or potentially captured pilot has become a priority for US authorities.
