ISRO Hands Over SSLV Technology

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has handed over its Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) technology to HAL. This transfer was facilitated by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) and marks the 100th technology transfer agreement. The SSLV technology is used to launch satellites weighing less than 500 kilograms into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Significance of This Technology Transfer

This agreement between ISRO and HAL is considered a significant step towards strengthening India's space industry. This technology transfer will enable the production of small and cost-effective rockets. Process to Be Completed in 24 Months

The technology transfer process will be completed within the next 24 months. Subsequently, HAL will prepare its first SSLV rocket by 2027. Within this timeframe, the company will receive training and technical support at every stage, from design to manufacturing and quality control.

Responsibility for Production for 10 Years

Under this agreement, HAL has been entrusted with the responsibility of producing SSLV rockets for 10 years. The company has been granted a non-exclusive and non-transferable license for this purpose. This license covers all responsibilities including design, manufacturing, integration, launch operations, post-flight analysis, and training.

Until now, HAL was primarily known in the aerospace and defense sectors. However, this agreement will see the company evolve from being just a component supplier to a mass-production service provider. HAL's presence in the rapidly growing small satellite market could establish it as a major player.

Impact Seen in the Stock Market

The impact of this significant news was directly reflected in the stock market. HAL's share rose by Rs 91.50, or 2.05 percent, to Rs 4545 on Tuesday.
