Jaipur: A massive fire that erupted late at night in the Trauma Center of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital caused widespread panic. Screams were heard from patients trapped in the ICU, and many were gripped by fear of suffocation. In this critical situation, three police personnel—Harimohan, Lalit, and Vedveer—jumped into the fire, disregarding their own lives, and saved many patients. Despite their bravery, eight patients unfortunately succumbed, while dozens of others were safely evacuated.

Panic due to Fire in ICU

Late on Sunday night, a fire broke out behind the ICU of the Trauma Center. Patients and their families were gripped by panic. The ward was obscured by smoke, and many patients were trapped. The intensity of the smoke and fire created chaos in the ward. People present in the hospital were screaming in fear.

Police Constable Harimohan, who was present at the Trauma Center at the time, immediately informed his fellow police personnel about the incident. The three of them quickly rushed towards the ICU together and prepared to safely evacuate the trapped patients.

Patients Rescued by Police Personnel's Bravery

Harimohan, Lalit, and Vedveer broke the ward's windows to clear the smoke and searched for patients hidden in the haze, bringing them out. They put themselves at risk for the safety of the patients. Family members and staff present at the hospital also assisted them.

One by one, the three police personnel safely evacuated dozens of patients. During this time, they were also surrounded by flames and intense smoke, but they did not retreat. Their courage saved the lives of many patients, while unfortunately, the other eight patients could not be saved.

Hospital and Administration's Response

It took approximately three hours to bring the fire under control. Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph and other officials also arrived at the scene. Due to severe breathing difficulties, the three police personnel were admitted to SMS Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The hospital administration lauded the bravery of the police personnel with the highest regard. The administration stated that their courage proved decisive in saving the lives of many patients.
