Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh — Procurement centers for the purchase of millet and maize were inaugurated in the district on Friday. For this year, the government has set a target to purchase 300 tons of millet and 500 tons of maize.

Key Highlights

The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for millet has been fixed at ₹2,775 per quintal — an increase of ₹150. The MSP for maize has been set at ₹2,400 per quintal, marking an increase of ₹175. A total of 8 procurement centers have been opened in the district — 4 for millet and 4 for maize. On the first day, farmer attendance was negligible due to inclement weather — most centers remained deserted today.

Administration and Directives

Officials in charge have been instructed to ensure all facilities for farmers visiting the centers. Preparations for the procurement centers have been completed.
