Kamalpur won the final of the Durga Night Cricket Tournament held in Gaya, Bihar, defeating Bhore by 37 runs in a rain-affected match. Due to rain, the scheduled contest could not be completed in its original format, and the organisers reduced the match to eight overs per side with the consent of both teams.
Rain before the final posed a challenge for the organising committee. After the weather cleared, the match began under the revised eight-over format, requiring both teams to adopt an aggressive approach from the outset.
Batting first after the toss, Kamalpur made a rapid start, scoring quickly in the opening overs and putting pressure on the opposition bowlers. The middle-order batters maintained the scoring rate, helping the team post a challenging total in the shortened format.
Chasing the target, Bhore came under pressure from the beginning. Regular wickets prevented the team from building substantial partnerships. Kamalpur's bowlers maintained accurate line and length, restricting the opposition batters and limiting their scoring opportunities. Bhore eventually fell 37 runs short of the target.
Following the victory, Kamalpur's players and supporters celebrated the title. The players congratulated one another on the field and celebrated with the trophy. Spectators supported the teams throughout the tournament and watched the final match.
During the prize distribution ceremony, the winner and runner-up teams received trophies, medals and other awards. The organisers praised the sporting spirit of both teams and said that despite the challenge posed by rain, the players delivered an entertaining contest for the spectators.
The organising committee said the objective of the Durga Night Cricket Tournament is to provide a platform for rural and local talent. It added that such tournaments offer young players an opportunity to showcase their sporting abilities and encourage greater participation in sports. The committee also said it plans to continue organising similar events in the future.
Local sports enthusiasts also expressed satisfaction over the tournament's successful completion, stating that cricket matches held under floodlights at night encourage young people in the region to take greater interest in the sport and inspire them to progress further.
Although rain shortened the match, the enthusiasm of the players and spectators remained unchanged. Kamalpur produced the better performance across all departments to win the final and secure the Durga Night Cricket Tournament 2026 title.
