Kanpur: An incident that has shamed the police uniform has come to light. A constable deployed in a Police Response Vehicle (PRV) molested a young woman, after which the woman, showing courage at the scene, taught the accused constable a lesson. Based on the woman's complaint, a case has been registered against the accused constable, and he has been arrested and suspended.
Young Woman Enraged by PRV Constable's Actions
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when a young woman, residing near GT Road Nahariya, was on her way to her workplace. During this time, Constable Pragesh, deployed in PRV number 4731 of Nazirabad police station, stopped the young woman and behaved indecently. It is alleged that the constable grabbed her hand and made an obscene gesture, which infuriated the young woman, and she protested vehemently.
Chaos erupted at the scene. The enraged young woman grabbed the constable's collar and dragged him on the road, teaching him a lesson. During this, the accused's uniform also got torn. As a crowd gathered, other police personnel present at the spot separated the two, and the accused constable was taken to the police station.
Video of Brave Young Woman Goes Viral on Social Media
Throughout this entire incident, the young woman not only protested but also recorded a video, which has since gone viral on social media. In the video, the young woman is seen scolding the constable, saying — “He misbehaved with me, he was asking for my number.” Onlookers also praised the young woman's courage.
According to sources, the accused constable repeatedly apologized, but the young woman paid him no heed and stated, "Now you will lose your job." Police personnel stationed at the nearby intersection arrived at the scene and immediately took the accused into custody.
Departmental Inquiry and Suspension Proceedings
Upon receiving information about the incident, ACP Swaroop Nagar Sumit Sudhakar Ramtek and senior officials arrived at the police station. Based on the victim's written complaint, a case was registered, and the accused constable was suspended. The Police Commissioner adopted a strict stance, stating that such actions while in uniform would not be tolerated. The administration has assured that a fair departmental inquiry into the matter will be conducted, and the guilty party will face severe punishment.
