Kanpur: Heavy rainfall in Mukundara Tiger Reserve in Kota district of Rajasthan last night severely disrupted traffic. Due to a landslide in Dara Valley early in the morning, traffic on the Delhi-Mumbai rail route and National Highway-52 (NH-52) came to a complete halt. This incident affected both passenger and goods trains.
The administration is engaged in immediate restoration and relief work on both rail and road to normalize traffic as soon as possible and mitigate the inconvenience to passengers.
Rail Route Affected by Falling Rocks in Mukundara Tiger Reserve
According to local villagers, large rocks fell from the mountain near the Abli Mini Mahal in Dara Valley. The incident occurred around 4 AM. Due to the falling rocks, both railway lines to Delhi and Mumbai were shut down. Many passenger and goods trains were affected, and several trains had to be stopped at different stations.
Saurabh Jain, Senior Commercial Manager of Kota Rail Division, confirmed that the down line from Mumbai to Delhi was restored by 7 AM. Work on the up line from Delhi to Mumbai is continuing on a war footing.
Waterlogging and Long Vehicle Jam on NH-52
The nullahs in the valley overflowed due to the rain. The water in the nullah flowing under the Abli Mini Mahal and the railway bridge started flowing rapidly, causing a traffic jam extending several kilometers on NH-52. Heavy vehicles remained stuck, and road traffic was obstructed. Police and administration are present at the scene, but there are difficulties in clearing the heavy vehicles.
Local residents and vehicle drivers remained stuck in the jam for several hours. The administration attempted to divert vehicles to alternative routes.
Mumbai-Delhi Down Line Restored by 7 AM
Saurabh Jain, Senior Commercial Manager of Kota Rail Division, informed that the down line from Mumbai to Delhi was restored by 7 AM. Meanwhile, work is ongoing on the up line from Delhi to Mumbai, and efforts are being made to operationalize it soon.
The railway has requested passengers to be patient and has made special arrangements for emergencies.
Administration Initiates Restoration and Relief Work
According to officials, road traffic can only be fully restored after the rain stops. Currently, rail traffic has partially resumed, but it may take more time to open the up line to Delhi.
The administration has urged passengers and vehicle drivers to follow safety instructions and stay updated through official channels for any new information.
