jammu Encounter: The encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Akhal area of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir continues for the fourth day. Joint teams of the army, police, and CRPF are positioned in the forest. Security forces still suspect that 4-5 terrorists are hiding. The operation is being carried out with the help of high-tech techniques.

Operation enters fourth day, army encircling the forest

The encounter between security forces and terrorists in the dense forests of the Akhal area of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir continued on Monday for the fourth day. Security forces have cordoned off the entire area, and the operation is being conducted with utmost caution. It is reported that there is still a possibility of four to five terrorists hiding in the forest.

The encounter began on Friday when security forces launched a search operation based on intelligence inputs. During the search, terrorists suddenly started firing, turning the search operation into an encounter.

High-tech surveillance and Para Force deployed

Security forces have deployed drones, thermal imaging cameras, and other advanced surveillance equipment throughout the area. This allows them to monitor the activities of terrorists within the forest. Additionally, the army's Special Para Force has also been included in the operation.

The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Commander of the army's 15th Corps are personally monitoring this operation, which demonstrates the seriousness and strategic importance of the operation.

The area echoed with sounds of firing and explosions

According to local sources, the area echoed with the sounds of gunfire and explosions from Saturday night to Sunday morning. The firing stopped briefly on Sunday morning but started again. This continued until Monday. The army reported that intermittent and intense firing continued throughout the night. In the retaliatory action against the terrorists, the security forces have further strengthened their cordon.

Three terrorists killed, one soldier injured so far

So far, three terrorists have been killed in the encounter, while one soldier has been injured by a gunshot. The injured soldier has been taken to a safe location for treatment.

Security forces believe that the killed terrorists may be foreign nationals. However, their identities have not yet been confirmed. Full details will be revealed only after the operation is completed.

Kulgam encounter may be linked to Pahalgam attack

This Kulgam encounter is also being linked to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Security forces recently eliminated three Pakistani terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack - Suleiman, Afghan, and Jibran - under Operation Mahadev. This action took place in the Pahalgam area, which is not far from Kulgam.

On July 31, two more terrorists were killed near the Line of Control in the Poonch sector. Thus, three major operations have been conducted in Jammu and Kashmir since last week.

Intelligence received on August 1

Security forces received information on August 1 that some suspicious activities had been observed in the dense forests of the Akhal area of Kulgam. Acting on this, joint teams of the army, police, and CRPF launched a search operation.

As the security forces advanced into the forest, the terrorists hiding there suddenly started firing. After that, the operation was prolonged. Security forces are still conducting an intensive operation against the terrorists.

Joint strategy of the army

A joint strategy of the army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF is being adopted in this operation. All agencies are working in coordination with each other. The main objective of the security forces is to surround and eliminate the terrorists without causing any civilian casualties. Local people have been advised to stay away from the forest area, and the entire area has been declared a no-movement zone.
