A massive fire erupted on Thursday afternoon at BK Motors garage in Kalyanpur, Lucknow. Two cars were completely destroyed, while the fire brigade took approximately two and a half hours to bring the blaze under control.

Lucknow: A major incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Kalyanpur area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. A massive fire suddenly broke out at a garage named BK Motors, causing panic throughout the area. Flames rose to the sky, and in no time, two cars parked in the garage were reduced to heaps of ash. The fire brigade team brought the fire under control after approximately two and a half hours of effort. The reassuring news was that no lives were lost in the incident.

Massive Fire Breaks Out at BK Motors Garage

At approximately 2:20 PM on Thursday afternoon, a sudden fire erupted at the BK Motors garage, located on Kalyanpur Ring Road in the Gudamba police station area. At the time, the garage was closed, and no employees were present inside. Local residents observed smoke and flames rising from the tin shed. The fire quickly intensified, taking on a colossal form.

Upon receiving the information, a team from Indira Nagar Fire Station arrived at the scene. Given the intensity of the fire, additional fire tenders were called. Nearby residents also began assisting in extinguishing the fire, but the blaze was so fierce that the garage was completely engulfed in flames.

Fire Extinguished After Hours of Fire Brigade Effort

Under the direction of the Chief Fire Officer, a total of six fire tenders were dispatched to the site. The team adopted a strategy of dousing the fire with water from three directions to bring it under control. Firefighters had to break down a wall to protect the adjacent RK Motors garage and prevent the flames from spreading there.

After continuous efforts lasting about two and a half hours, the fire was completely brought under control. Officials present at the scene stated that the fire was so intense that even the garage roof had melted, and nearby electrical lines were also damaged.

Forensic Team Engages in Investigation

Ashwini Kumar Verma, the owner of the garage, stated that two of his cars—a Maruti WagonR and a Ciaz—were completely destroyed in the incident. Additionally, all equipment, machinery, and spare parts kept in the workshop were also consumed by the fire. Preliminary estimates suggest losses amounting to millions of rupees.

Fire department officials stated that a short circuit appears to be the probable cause of the fire in the preliminary investigation. However, a forensic team has also been called for a detailed investigation to ascertain the actual reasons behind the blaze.

Timely Alert Averted Greater Disaster

No employees were present in the garage at the time of the fire, otherwise, the incident could have proven fatal. Nearby residents promptly informed the fire brigade, preventing more extensive damage.

Local residents have urged the administration to increase safety inspections in the area and conduct regular checks of the electrical systems in tin-shed garages. In response, the administration has assured that compliance with electrical safety standards will be ensured in all workshops and garages to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
