The Lucknow Crime Branch raided another alleged international call centre at Omaxe Apartment in Sushant Golf City as part of an ongoing campaign against cyber fraud. The operation was conducted between around 1 am on Thursday night and 5 am on Friday, with police recovering a large number of computers, laptops and other electronic devices and detaining eight people for questioning.

According to police, information was received about a suspected call centre operating from the apartment at an international level. Following the information, a joint team of the Crime Branch and local police carried out a planned raid.

During the investigation, several digital devices and documents were recovered from the call centre operating on the 12th floor.

According to ADCP (Crime) Kiran Yadav, preliminary questioning indicated that people were allegedly defrauded in the name of customer support services. Police claimed that foreign or other customers were contacted through calls transferred online.

However, the allegations will be finally confirmed only after examination of digital evidence and a detailed investigation.

Police said those detained include Puneet Verma and Devendra Patel. According to officials, during questioning, some individuals allegedly admitted to involvement in work linked to fraud.

However, the legal value of these statements will be determined during the investigation and judicial process.

The recovered computers, laptops, servers, mobile phones and other electronic devices will undergo forensic examination. Call records, digital transactions, foreign contacts and other technical evidence will be analysed through these devices.

Police are also trying to determine how many more people are connected to the network and how long it had been operating.

The action follows the recent detection of a large alleged cyber fraud network in Lucknow, in which police also raided another call centre and arrested several people.

Police said the campaign against cybercrime will continue and strict action will be taken against such networks.

Police appealed to people not to share confidential information sought through unknown calls, fake customer care numbers, or in the name of investment, banking or technical assistance. People have been asked to immediately report any suspicious activity to the local police or cyber helpline.

The investigation is currently underway. Further legal action will be taken based on the role of those detained, examination of digital evidence and questioning. The final responsibility of any individual in the case will be determined only after the investigation and judicial process are completed.
