Lucknow Police have arrested three people, including the wife of a man whose body was found in Sikandarpur Minor in Barabanki’s Satrikh area, in connection with his alleged murder. According to police, the victim was given sleeping pills mixed in kheer before he was allegedly attacked with a brick and his body was disposed of in a sack.
The deceased was identified as Ramtirath Rawat, a resident of Misa village under the jurisdiction of Gosainganj police station. Police found the body of an unidentified man in Sikandarpur Minor in Satrikh police station area on July 5. The body was later identified as Ramtirath.
Following a complaint filed by the deceased’s father, a murder case was registered and police began investigating the case.
According to police, investigators initially faced the challenge of establishing the victim’s identity and determining the reason behind the murder. Police gathered information from the deceased’s family members and people known to him and subsequently obtained clues indicating a possible conspiracy.
The investigation was conducted using manual intelligence and available evidence.
According to police, questioning revealed that Ramtirath’s wife, Ramdulari, allegedly mixed sleeping pills into his food before the incident. After Ramtirath ate the kheer and fell into a deep sleep, his alleged associates attacked him.
Police said he was struck several times on the face with a brick. The suspects then allegedly carried out a plan to dispose of his body.
After the alleged murder, the accused placed the body in a sack and transported it on the deceased’s scooter before throwing it into the minor. Police said the alleged intention was to dispose of the body at a location where evidence of the murder would not be easily found.
After the body was recovered from the canal, investigators began connecting the available evidence and information.
Police investigated the possible involvement of the deceased’s relatives in addition to his wife. According to police, action was taken against Ramdulari, her cousin Sarfjeet and her brother Avadhesh Kumar.
All three were arrested and presented before the court.
Police said several items connected with the incident were recovered at the indication of the accused. These include pieces of the brick allegedly used in the murder, a bloodstained stole, a pillow, a plastic sack and the scooter allegedly used in the incident.
The recovered items are being treated as important evidence for the investigation.
Police are examining how the body was transported to the canal and how the accused allegedly attempted to conceal evidence after the murder. Investigators are matching the recovered items with evidence collected from the scene.
The investigation is also examining family and personal disputes in connection with the alleged motive. Police are verifying the circumstances and the reasons cited during questioning through independent evidence, including medical and forensic findings.
The use of sleeping pills is also an important part of the investigation. The medical and post-mortem reports may help establish the nature of the injuries sustained by the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death. The recovered brick pieces, bloodstained cloth and other items are also being examined for forensic evidence and in connection with the sequence of events.
Following the arrest of the three accused, police are examining their individual roles in the alleged murder and the subsequent disposal of the body. Investigators are also trying to establish when the alleged plan was made, who was involved and how the body was transported to the canal.
Police are further questioning family members and acquaintances to determine the nature of the relationship between the deceased and the accused before the incident and to establish whether there were any disputes or tensions.
