'Sahaj Saral Bijli Sanyojan Yojana' to Provide Affordable Connections
Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPCZ) has launched the "Sahaj Saral Bijli Sanyojan Yojana" on the instructions of the state government. Under this scheme, new connections are being provided to farmers and domestic consumers at a very low cost. The scheme's objective is to ensure that no farmer or rural consumer remains without electricity.
This initiative will not only accelerate electricity distribution in rural areas but also curb problems like illegal connections and electricity theft. Farmers will now be able to easily operate agricultural pumps in their fields and receive a smooth power supply for domestic use.
Thousands of New Connections Issued So Far
According to the Betul Circle Manager of Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited, a total of 13,091 new electricity connections have been provided across all three divisions of the district under the scheme so far. Of these, 7,388 connections were issued for agricultural pumps and 5,703 for domestic consumers.
According to company officials, tremendous enthusiasm is being observed among farmers and villagers for this scheme. Farmers are now applying without hassle and obtaining valid connections for just 5 rupees.

This scheme will most benefit farmers who rely on electricity for irrigation during the Rabi season. They will no longer have to wait for separate hefty fees or lengthy procedures. By paying 5 rupees, they can immediately obtain a temporary connection and start irrigation by operating pumps in their fields.
This will increase agricultural production and save both time and money for farmers. Officials state that this scheme will also improve electricity supply systems in villages, as consumers will now regularly use registered connections.
Strict Action Against Electricity Thieves
The company has also clarified that strict action will now be taken against those using electricity without a valid connection. Under Section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003, using electricity without a connection can lead to heavy fines, legal action, and even imprisonment.
Officials reported that in recent days, illegal connections have been disconnected in several places, and action has been taken against the culprits. The company urges all consumers to use electricity only with a connection obtained under the rules to maintain transparency in power distribution.
Awareness Campaign in Rural Areas
An awareness campaign regarding electricity connections is also being run by the company in rural areas. Electricity department teams are visiting villages to inform farmers about the scheme. People are being informed that they will receive a valid connection for just 5 rupees and that no middlemen are required for this process.
In many villages, the company has also started an on-the-spot application process by organizing camps to prevent farmers from having to queue or visit offices repeatedly.
