Mahedi Hasan Shines as Bangladesh Clinches Historic T20 Series Victory Against Sri Lanka

Bangladesh spinner Mahedi Hasan made history in the third T20 International match played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Mahedi Hasan broke the 13-year-old record of Indian veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh.

SPORTS NEWS: The Bangladesh cricket team has created history by winning the T20 International series against Sri Lanka for the first time. In the third and deciding match played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets, winning the three-match series 2-1. The hero of this victory was spinner Mahedi Hasan, who not only broke the back of Sri Lanka's batting but also broke the 13-year-old record of Indian veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Mahedi Hasan's deadly bowling, Harbhajan Singh's record broken

Mahedi Hasan took 4 wickets for just 11 runs in 4 overs in the third T20 match against Sri Lanka. His economy rate was only 2.80. With this performance, he set the record for the best bowling figures by any visiting spinner in T20 Internationals. Mahedi broke Harbhajan Singh's record set during the 2012 T20 World Cup. 

Harbhajan had taken 4 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs against England then. Mahedi has now surpassed him in this list. He was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

Sri Lanka's batting flops, only Nissanka showed some resilience

Sri Lanka, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, could only manage to score 132 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored the most runs for the team with 46, but no batsman could reach a half-century.

The entire Sri Lankan team struggled against the Bangladesh spinners. Apart from Mahedi Hasan, the Bangladesh bowlers bowled tightly, preventing Sri Lanka from reaching a big score.

Bangladesh's easy victory, Tanzid Hasan's half-century

The Bangladesh team, chasing the target of 133 runs, had a poor start. Parvez Hossain Emon was LBW without scoring on the very first ball. But after this, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and captain Litton Das pulled the team out of trouble and put the team in a b position with a 74-run partnership for the second wicket.

Litton Das played an innings of 32 runs. After his dismissal, Tanzid Hasan took responsibility and scored an unbeaten 73 runs off 47 balls, leading the team to victory. He was supported by Towhid Hridoy, who scored an unbeaten 27 runs off 25 balls. Bangladesh achieved this target with 21 balls to spare, losing 2 wickets.
