TMC MP Mahua Moitra made a controversial statement regarding Amit Shah when questioned about illegal infiltration. The BJP filed a complaint. The matter appears to be escalating into a political and legal dispute.
New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra often remains in the headlines for her statements. This time, she has made a statement concerning Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which has created a storm in political circles. Mahua Moitra made a comment while being questioned about illegal infiltration in West Bengal, which has led to a major controversy.
Questions on Illegal Infiltration in West Bengal and Mahua's Response
In fact, in Nadia district of West Bengal, journalists asked Mahua Moitra about the increasing illegal infiltration in the state. During this, Mahua stated that the central government and the Home Ministry are merely making statements on this issue, while the situation is deteriorating.
Mahua said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself admitted in his August 15 speech that infiltration is happening across the borders, and due to this, the demography is changing. Home Minister Amit Shah was present and applauding during the PM's speech. Mahua alleged that if the situation is so serious, then why is no action being taken?
Controversial Remark and Political Uproar
Mahua Moitra did not stop there. She made a highly objectionable remark, stating that if the borders cannot be protected and people from other countries are infiltrating India, and the safety of women is in danger, then the Home Minister should take responsibility.
Her statement was: "If the Home Ministry and the Home Minister are failing in their duty, then Amit Shah should be the first one to be brought to the dock." This statement of hers has caused an uproar in political circles.
BJP Files Complaint
Following Mahua Moitra's statement, the BJP attacked her. A local resident, Sandeep Majumdar, filed a complaint against Mahua at the Krishnanagar Kotwali police station in Nadia district. BJP leaders stated that such language cannot be tolerated in democratic politics.
Mahua Moitra's Silence
Despite the controversy escalating, Mahua Moitra has not given any official response on the matter. Following her statement, sharp reactions were also seen on social media. While some termed it as freedom of expression, many called it inappropriate and unjustified. The issue of illegal infiltration in West Bengal has long been a major electoral issue for political parties. The BJP has repeatedly raised this issue, while the TMC alleges that the central government has failed in border security.
