Mamata Banerjee Targets BJP and State Government at TMC Chhatra Parishad Programme in Kolkata

Mamata Banerjee criticised the BJP and West Bengal state government over police action and cases against TMC leaders and workers at a Chhatra Parishad foundation day programme in Kolkata, while Abhishek Banerjee warned that political power does not remain permanent.

At a Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad foundation day programme in Kolkata, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party and the state government over police action and cases against party leaders and workers. TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee also targeted the BJP, saying that those currently in power should remember that political circumstances do not remain the same.

Addressing the TMC Chhatra Parishad foundation day programme in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee raised several allegations concerning the current political situation in the state. She alleged that attempts were being made to intimidate and threaten young people associated with the TMC.

According to Mamata, cases were being registered against party leaders and workers and attempts were being made to prevent them from engaging in political activities. She alleged that people were being pressured through the police.

The former chief minister said she would not come under pressure. Referring to recent developments on Camac Street, she said that what happened there was being seen by the whole of Bengal. Mamata also called on her supporters to stand firmly in the political arena.

Mamata Banerjee also raised questions over the dispute involving the TMC office on Camac Street. Objecting to the police action, she asked why the police had arrived there with gas cutters.

She also responded to allegations of theft linked to the party office and library. Mamata said she was being accused of stealing books and challenged those making the allegations to produce evidence.

The former chief minister said that despite being out of power, she had no need to engage in activities such as stealing books. She also said that she could still have several libraries built if she wanted.

After Mamata Banerjee, senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee also targeted the BJP at the programme. He alleged that those in power had crossed the limits of alleged atrocities.

Abhishek said those currently in power should not forget that political circumstances do not remain the same. He claimed that the BJP would also have to leave power at some point.

He also warned those standing with the BJP that support from those in power should not be considered permanent protection. According to him, circumstances can change quickly.

Abhishek also took a firm position on an alleged dissident group within the TMC. Describing Mamata Banerjee as Bengal's biggest leader, he said there was no question of taking back those who had left the party.

A key reason cited for the current political confrontation is the action involving the TMC office on Camac Street. According to the report, a team from the Kolkata Police and the municipal corporation reached Abhishek Banerjee's office on Thursday night.

The municipal corporation said the signboard installed at the office was against the rules and took action to remove it. A dispute arose between TMC leaders and police and municipal officials during the operation.

Several TMC leaders, including party MP Derek O'Brien, reached the spot. Sloganeering and protests took place at the site. According to the report, Derek O'Brien sat on the office stairs and opposed the action.

Abhishek Banerjee later reached the office and had an argument with municipal officials. The officials, however, completed the removal of the signboard.

Following the dispute, Kolkata Police registered FIRs against Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O'Brien and other party leaders. Several people were named as accused, and information about some arrests also emerged.

The TMC questioned the police action. Party leaders alleged that the municipal corporation's action was not carried out in accordance with due procedure.

Derek O'Brien claimed that police personnel pushed him and that force was also used against party workers during the action. He also questioned the validity of the notice.

However, the claims of the two sides regarding the police and administrative action differ. The full picture of the incident will become clear after the investigation.

Mamata Banerjee Targets BJP and State Government at TMC Chhatra Parishad Programme in Kolkata

A separate political dispute has also emerged over the TMC Chhatra Parishad foundation day programme. The state government alleged that the public road was not kept completely clear during the programme.

It was reported that the court had directed that sufficient space be maintained for traffic on the road during the programme. The issue has led to another confrontation between the government and the TMC.

West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari alleged that the court's directions were not followed. He said action would be taken if rules were violated.

Amid the dispute linked to the programme, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari also spoke of registering an FIR against Mamata Banerjee. The allegation is that directions concerning keeping the public road clear during the programme were not followed.

The government said compliance with court orders was mandatory for everyone and that no political party or leader could be exempted from them.

The TMC, meanwhile, described the developments as an action driven by political pressure. The party alleged that the state government was targeting opposition leaders and workers.

Political competition between the BJP and TMC in West Bengal has remained intense. The disputes over police action, FIRs and public programmes have added to the tension between the two parties.

In her speech, Mamata Banerjee indicated that she would continue the political fight against the BJP. The state government, on the other hand, said ensuring compliance with the law and court directions was the administration's responsibility.

The TMC has described the developments as political retaliation, while the government has cited compliance with rules and judicial directions.

Police and administrative action in matters related to the Camac Street office dispute and the TMC Chhatra Parishad programme is continuing. The FIRs and potential legal action could lead to further political statements from both sides.

The statements by Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee indicate that the TMC views the issue as a political fight. The government has based its position on law enforcement and compliance with court directions.

At present, the police investigation and legal process are proceeding. Further investigation and court proceedings will determine the legal outcome of the allegations related to the Camac Street dispute and the Chhatra Parishad programme.
