Mamta Kulkarni Clarifies Dawood Ibrahim Statement, Says Comments Were for Ex-Husband Vicky Goswami

Former actress Mamta Kulkarni clarifies her controversial statement, asserting her comments about not being a 'terrorist' were meant for her ex-husband Vicky Goswami, not Dawood Ibrahim.

Mamta Kulkarni has clarified her statement regarding Dawood Ibrahim. She stated that her comments were not about Dawood, but rather about her former husband, Vicky Goswami, who was not involved in any terrorist or bomb blast activities.

Gorakhpur: Former Bollywood actress, and now Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara, Mamta Kulkarni, also known as Yamai Mamta Nand Giri, is once again in the news. Recently, she clarified a controversy that arose from a statement she made at an event. Mamta claims that her statement was not in reference to Dawood Ibrahim, but rather about her former husband, Vicky Goswami. She accused the media of creating confusion by presenting her statements out of context.

Mamta Kulkarni Clarifies Her Statement

During a recent event in Gorakhpur, when journalists questioned Mamta Kulkarni about her alleged connections with Dawood Ibrahim, she had stated, “He is not a terrorist; he hasn't carried out any blasts.” Following this statement, news quickly spread in the media that Mamta had defended Dawood Ibrahim.

However, she has now clarified that this statement was not for Dawood, but for her former husband, Vicky Goswami. She said, “I only stated that the person I was associated with is not anti-national and has not orchestrated any bomb blasts. The media misconstrued my words by only half-listening and connecting them to the wrong person.”

Question About Dawood Misunderstood

Speaking via phone and messages, Mamta Kulkarni stated that she has never met Dawood Ibrahim. “I was asked a question related to Dawood, but I said that I do not know Dawood. I only spoke about Vicky, saying that he has not been involved in any terrorist activities. The media misinterpreted this by linking it to Dawood.”

Mamta further added that misrepresenting her statements is irresponsible journalism. She reiterated that her words should be understood in their correct context.

Relations with Vicky Goswami Resurface

Mamta Kulkarni was married to the notorious underworld drug smuggler Vicky Goswami. However, when Vicky was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a major drug case, Mamta returned to India. At that time, she had not publicly acknowledged their relationship. Later, embracing a spiritual path, Mamta became the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara during the Mahakumbh.

Appeal to Media for Restraint

Mamta Kulkarni has appealed to the media not to spread news based on incomplete information. She stated that her life is now dedicated to spirituality, and she wishes to convey a message of peace and service to society.

She said, “I no longer wish to be part of any controversy. I should not be defamed by misrepresenting my statements. I only want to speak the truth.”
