Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has assigned a significant responsibility to her nephew, Akash Anand. Mayawati has promoted him and appointed him as the National Coordinator of the party. This position is considered the second most important in the organization after the National President.
Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, in a major reshuffle within the party organization, has promoted her nephew Akash Anand to the post of National Coordinator. This position comes after the National President, i.e., Mayawati, making Akash Anand now the second most powerful leader in the party.
Previously, Akash Anand served as the National Coordinator in the BSP, but now his responsibilities have increased significantly. Akash Anand has been given the responsibility to review the functioning of all Sector Coordinators, Central and State Coordinators, and State Presidents, and will report directly to Mayawati. This move is an attempt to further strengthen the centralization of leadership and organizational robustness within the party.
New List of State Presidents
Mayawati has replaced four National Coordinators with six new National Coordinators in the organization. These include Ramji Gautam, Rajaram, Randhir Singh Beniwal, Lalji Medhankar, Atar Singh Rao, and Dharamveer Singh Ashok. All of them have been assigned the responsibility to report to Akash Anand. The work areas of the National Coordinators have also been defined. Ramji Gautam has been made in-charge of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar. Along with him, Mohit Anand has been paired with Rajaram, Suresh Arya with Atar Singh Rao, and Dayachand with Dharamveer Ashok.
Mayawati has also appointed new state presidents in several states. Vishwanath Pal has once again become the state president in Uttar Pradesh. Rajesh Tanwar has been appointed as the Delhi State President, Ramakant Pippal as Madhya Pradesh President, Shyam Tandon as Chhattisgarh President, Shankar Mahto as Bihar President, and Dr. Sunil Dongre as Maharashtra President.

Akash Anand's Journey in the Party
Akash Anand's journey in the BSP has been full of ups and downs. In March 2025, he was removed from all positions, including National Coordinator, and expelled from the party. Mayawati had then clarified that this step was taken due to the disregard for party interests under the influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth. However, in April 2025, Akash Anand was re-appointed as the main National Coordinator of the party. Now, after his recent promotion and appointment as National Coordinator, his influence in the party has further increased.
