Mayawati Condemns Declining Political Discourse After Bihar Rally Incident

The use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the stage during a recent joint rally of Congress and RJD in Bihar has become a topic of discussion. Following this incident, a wave of political reactions has ensued.

UP Politics: The reactions continue following the use of derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the stage by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav during a joint rally of the Indian National Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar. In this context, Bahujan Samaj Party's national president and former Chief Minister of UP, Mayawati, has also commented. However, in her commentary, she neither named PM Modi nor Rahul Gandhi or Tejashwi Yadav.

On the social media site X, Mayawati wrote that the declining standard of politics in the country, especially due to political selfishness, is extremely sad and worrying. She stated that the politics of all parties should be in the interest of the nation and millions of poor and common people, based on their constitution, ideology, and principles. However, this has not been seen correctly in the last few years, while various internal and external challenges facing the country have increased significantly during this period.

Declining Standard of Politics is Worrying

Mayawati wrote in her X (formerly Twitter) post that the current political atmosphere, especially during election times, is "extremely sad and worrying." She opined that political activities should not be based solely on self-interest but should be for the benefit of the nation and millions of the poor and common people. She said,

'The declining standard of politics in the country, particularly due to political selfishness, is extremely sad and worrying. The politics of all parties should be in the interest of the nation and the common people, in accordance with their party's constitution and principles. However, this situation has not been seen correctly in the last few years, even though many internal and external challenges facing the country have also increased during this period.'

The former Chief Minister also wrote that indecent, unbecoming, and unparliamentary remarks about high government and non-governmental institutions, and people holding high positions in politics, are an attempt to tarnish the image of the country. Mayawati stated, especially during election times, this process becomes even more toxic and violent. What has been seen and heard in Bihar recently is a cause for concern for the nation.

Mayawati Explains BSP's Policy

Mayawati emphasized that BSP has always adhered to the Ambedkarite principles of 'Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay' (for the welfare of all, for the happiness of all). Her party always promotes fair and impartial politics in the interest of the nation and the common people. She said that BSP is against any form of corrupted and toxic politics and expects others to also stay away from despicable self-serving politics in the interest of the nation and the common people. The atmosphere of the country should not be spoiled by cheap politics that demeans one another.

In her statement, Mayawati made special mention of the ideals and constitution of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. She stated that the constitution guarantees every constitutional institution to work within its respective limits, and it is through this that the worsening of the situation can be prevented.
