Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President Mayawati has made a significant and organizationally impactful decision. She has clarified that her birth anniversaries or death anniversaries will no longer be celebrated at the party's memorial sites.
Lucknow: Following the Samajwadi Party's show of strength on Kanshi Ram's Mahaparinirvan Diwas, discussions about a large event in Gautam Buddh Nagar on December 6th, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvan Diwas, were put to rest on Wednesday. Party National President Mayawati has clarified that she will no longer visit the memorial sites of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other great personalities to celebrate their birth anniversaries or death anniversaries.
She will only be present at programs held at her home or the party office. Alongside this, she has instructed party workers to visit the memorial sites in Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Heavy Crowds and Security Challenges at Memorial Sites
The BSP chief took this decision against the backdrop that the memorial sites established in Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar have now transformed into grand pilgrimage centers. These sites witness massive crowds on the birth and death anniversaries of great personalities of the Bahujan society – such as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram, Jyotiba Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, and Narayan Guru.
Mayawati stated that her presence at these sites leads to several problems for the public due to security arrangements. People are often stopped far from the main site, causing inconvenience for both devotees and party workers. For this reason, she has decided to pay her respects at her residence or party office instead of being physically present at the memorial sites.

Focus on Organizational and Political Work
The BSP chief said that this decision would enable party workers to become more active and focus on organizational and political activities. She clarified that this step has been taken keeping in mind the party's strength and the engagement of its workers. She wrote in her message,
'BSP governments honored the great personalities of the Bahujan society, who had been neglected by casteist parties. Now, even without my presence at these memorials, workers will independently pay their respects and focus on organizational tasks.'
This year, on December 6th, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's death anniversary, workers from all regions except Western Uttar Pradesh will reach Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal in Lucknow to pay their tributes. Meanwhile, people from Western UP, Delhi, and Uttarakhand will gather in large numbers with their families at the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida.
