A controversial incident has come to light today in a family in Meerut, where a sub-inspector's wife was shot with his service pistol.

The said sub-inspector is posted at Kheda Rathore police station in Agra but had come to Meerut on leave for Karwa Chauth.

It has been stated that the sub-inspector had brought his service pistol with him. The family claims the shot was fired when the sub-inspector's wife was attempting to put the pistol in the safe.

The bullet hit her thigh; the woman was admitted to the hospital in serious condition.

The accused sub-inspector has been identified as Robin and is reportedly a resident of Meerut's Daurala area. His wife's name is Deepika.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and recorded statements. However, the woman's maternal family has declined to pursue any action.
