Two young men were seriously injured, sustaining cuts to their noses and cheeks, and were hospitalized. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Sagar: In Shahgarh tehsil of Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, a dispute among the tribal Gond community turned into a bloody conflict using bows and arrows. The matter began with the eve-teasing of a girl, but rapidly escalated into a terrifying brawl. During this, several people suffered cuts to their noses, cheeks, and ears from arrows and were immediately admitted to the hospital.
Conflict Erupts from Family Dispute in Shahgarh
According to police sources, the incident occurred early in the morning in Bhagat Singh Ward of Shahgarh tehsil. A dispute arose between two factions of the tribal Gond community over the eve-teasing of a girl from one family. The girl's maternal uncle and other family members began to protest, but people from the other side advanced to fight.
The altercation began with arguments and a scuffle, but as tensions escalated, one side brought out bows and arrows. Arrows began to be fired from behind trees and walls, making the conflict even more violent.
Serious Injuries from Bow and Arrow
Several people were seriously injured in the bow and arrow attack. Two young men sustained the most severe injuries — one had his nose cut off, and the other suffered three deep wounds on his cheek. Some other individuals also arrived at the hospital with injuries. All injured are currently receiving treatment at Shahgarh Hospital.
Local residents and doctors reported that everyone was astonished to see the wounds inflicted by bows and arrows. Healthcare workers were also stunned to hear of such an attack in modern times. Doctors stated that it was a rare and serious case, requiring immediate treatment for the injured.
Police Action and Investigation
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and tried to de-escalate tensions in the entire area. Police recorded statements from those involved in the altercation and gathered information from the injured individuals. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered, and an investigation has begun.
A police official stated that both the perpetrators and victims will be interrogated in such violent incidents. Additionally, extra security arrangements have been implemented in the area to maintain peace.
