Mumbai Police recovered 1,946 stolen or lost mobile phones from various parts of the city last month. Their total estimated value is approximately 3.22 crore rupees, and the process of returning them to their owners will now begin.
Mumbai: Police have recovered 1,946 stolen and lost mobile phones from various areas of the city in the past month. Officials from DCP Zones 3, 4, and 5 carried out this operation with technical assistance and through the CEIR portal. Police stated that the total estimated value of these phones is approximately 3 crore 22 lakh 46 thousand rupees.
Police officials said that this recovery was made with the help of the Cyber and Crime Branch, and the entire team achieved this success through diligent effort under the guidance of senior officers.
Mobiles Recovered from Several Areas
Police informed that mobile phones were recovered from several areas, including Tardeo (62), Nagpada (50), Agripada (62), Byculla (61), Worli (99), Dadar (138), Shivaji Park (99), Mahim (88), Santacruz (90), Dharavi (91), Colaba (90), and Bandra (64).
This major operation was technically executed with the help of the CEIR portal and the Cyber-Crime Branch. Under the guidance of senior officials, police teams diligently identified stolen phones and ensured their recovery.
Mobile Owners Will Soon Receive Their Phones
Police stated that all recovered mobile phones and valuables will be handed over to their rightful owners through the respective police stations. This operation is a result of the police's technical expertise and the active use of the CEIR portal.
The Mumbai Police Commissionerate has appealed to citizens that if their mobile phone is stolen or lost, they should immediately file an FIR and register a complaint on the CEIR portal to expedite the recovery process.
CEIR Portal Makes Mobile Theft Identification Easier
According to Mumbai Police, using the CEIR portal has made mobile tracking and theft identification easier. Police stated that with technical assistance, criminals can be identified and their networks dismantled.
The Cyber and Crime Branch team conducted this operation by carrying out technical analysis and field surveys in all zones. This sends a clear message that Mumbai Police is serious about cybercrime and mobile theft cases.
