Sanjay Sahni, the main accused in a 9-year-old murder case in Muzaffarpur, evaded police for years by creating three fake Aadhaar cards. He has now been arrested and sent to judicial custody based on information from villagers.
Muzaffarpur: A shocking incident has come to light from the Ahiyapur police station area of Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. Sanjay Sahni, the main accused in a murder that occurred 9 years ago, had been successfully evading the police by concealing his identity. During this period, he created three fake Aadhaar cards to change his identity. Following secret information from villagers, the police apprehended him and presented him in court, after which he was sent to judicial custody.
Accused Evaded Police for Nine Years
In 2016, Kailash Sahni from Vijay Chhapra village was beaten to death. Kailash's son, Arun Sahni, had nominated Sanjay Sahni and three others in the case. The main accused, Sanjay Sahni, consistently eluded the police. Every time the police conducted raids in search of him, he would escape by showing fake Aadhaar cards with different names and addresses.
Even when the investigating officer changed, Sanjay would immediately create fake Aadhaar cards with a new identity. This charade continued for nine years, with Sanjay hoodwinking the police. The police were also astonished that a person could remain hidden for such an extended period by continuously altering their identity.
Concealed True Identity by Creating Three Fake Aadhaar Cards
Sanjay Sahni had created a total of three fake Aadhaar cards. Each time, his name and addresses were different, but he remained the same individual. It had become almost impossible for the local administration and police to apprehend the accused. Investigations were repeatedly delayed due to his fake documents.
However, the vigilance of the villagers provided the police with the right direction. A villager provided secret information that Sanjay was present at his actual location. Following this, the police verified his photograph and identity.
Sanjay Sahni Arrested Due to Police Cunning
After verification, the police deployed plainclothes officers around the accused. As soon as the information was received that Sanjay was present, the police immediately raided the location and apprehended him. After interrogation, Sanjay Sahni was produced in court and sent to jail under judicial custody.
Station House Officer Rohan Kumar stated that cases have been registered against the accused under various sections for murder and creating fake documents. The police are also ensuring that stricter actions are taken in the future to prevent the creation of fake documents.
Accused Caught Due to Villagers' Information
This arrest proved that the partnership between the rural community and the police can play a significant role in crime control. The Station House Officer said that the alertness and information provided by the public help in catching criminals.
Additionally, the police appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police station, so that criminals do not get the opportunity to escape for long periods.
