Muzaffarpur is set to receive two development projects in the coming days, with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary scheduled to visit the city again within the next 10 days. According to the proposed programme, he will lay the foundation stone for the construction of Bihar's first Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. He will also lay the foundation stone for the long-discussed Patahi Airport project.
According to the state government, the proposed Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering will be the first specialised institution of its kind in Bihar. The institute aims to provide students with modern technical education and national-level facilities. Once operational, it is expected to reduce the need for students to pursue technical education outside the state by making quality education available locally.
The Patahi Airport project is also considered important for Muzaffarpur and North Bihar. The development of the airport is expected to improve air connectivity in the region and is anticipated to support trade, industry, tourism and investment. Local residents and the business community have been awaiting the commencement of the project for a long time.
According to administrative officials, preparations for the foundation stone-laying programme have begun. Necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned departments regarding the venue, security arrangements, traffic management and other logistical requirements. District authorities and officials from various departments are coordinating continuously in view of the Deputy Chief Minister's proposed visit.
Experts associated with technical education believe the new institute is expected to provide a new direction for engineering education in Bihar. Modern laboratories, research facilities and industry-linked training are expected to be available in the fields of architecture and civil engineering. This is also expected to create new opportunities for employment and skill development for students.
The construction of Patahi Airport is also expected to benefit residents of Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran, West Champaran, Vaishali and nearby districts. Improved air connectivity is expected to facilitate business, transportation of agricultural products and tourism activities.
Local residents and public representatives welcomed both projects, stating that if the schemes are completed on schedule, they are expected to accelerate the development of North Bihar. They said investment in the education and transport sectors is expected to strengthen economic activity over the long term and create new opportunities for young people.
At present, attention remains focused on the Deputy Chief Minister's proposed visit and the foundation stone-laying programme. The administration said all preparations will be completed on schedule so that work on both projects can begin as planned.
