Maruti Suzuki registered a tremendous surge in vehicle sales during Navratri. According to the company, this time over 7 lakh customers visited showrooms for inquiries, and approximately 1.5 lakh cars were booked. Last Navratri, Maruti sold around 85,000 cars, whereas this year the number was more than double. Other major automobile companies like Mahindra and Hyundai also saw significant increases in sales. Especially, the demand for Hyundai's SUV models, Creta and Venue, saw a particular rise this Navratri.

Maruti Suzuki's Head of Marketing stated that bookings for small cars, SUVs, and Multi-Purpose Vehicles saw an increase of up to 50 percent this year. He added that GST cuts and festive offers encouraged customer purchases.

Surge in Electronics Sales

During Navratri, consumer electronics sales also experienced a tremendous surge. Major brands like LG, Haier, and Godrej recorded sales growth of 20 to 85 percent this time compared to last year. Haier India performed well in the sales of large-screen TVs and home appliances priced above ₹2.5 lakh. Experts believe that the reduction in GST rates and additional offers provided by companies played a major role in this acceleration.

The retail sector also saw a rush of customers this Navratri. Companies like Reliance Retail and Vijay Sales reported an increase in their sales by 20 to 25 percent. Furthermore, online sale events by e-commerce companies such as Amazon and Flipkart also boosted purchases.

Impact of GST Rate Cut

The government had reduced the GST rate on several essential products at the end of September. This had a direct impact on the market. Due to the decrease in product prices, customers showed greater enthusiasm for shopping. Companies passed on the benefit of the GST cut directly to customers, leading to increased sales during the festive season.

According to experts, the GST cut not only reduced product prices but also boosted consumer confidence. This created a balance between demand and sales in the market, benefiting businesses. This Navratri, in addition to the car, electronics, and retail sectors, sales of FMCG and home appliances also saw a significant increase.
