Nawalgarh Panchayat Samiti’s Pradhan post has been reserved for an unreserved woman category in the 2026 Panchayati Raj elections. The reservation lottery for Panchayat Samiti member wards was also conducted on Wednesday, with reservation determined for all 17 wards. The lottery for Sarpanch and Ward Panch posts will be held on September 24.
As part of preparations for the 2026 Panchayati Raj elections, a reservation lottery was conducted at the district headquarters on Wednesday. Along with the reservation of the Pradhan post, the ward-wise reservation for Panchayat Samiti members was also determined.
The reservation process for the general elections to Panchayati Raj institutions in Rajasthan is being conducted on September 23 and 24. Reports confirm that the reservation of Panchayat Samiti Pradhan posts, Zila Parishad member posts and Panchayat Samiti member wards was determined at the district level on September 23.
The Pradhan post of Nawalgarh Panchayat Samiti has been reserved for the unreserved woman category this time. The post was in the unreserved open category in the previous election.
The reservation was determined through a lottery. With the new reservation status, the eligibility of potential candidates for the Pradhan post will be determined according to the prescribed category.
The reservation of Pradhan posts for other Panchayat Samitis in Jhunjhunu district was also determined through the same process. In the district, reservation was determined for 14 Panchayat Samiti Pradhan posts, 41 Zila Parishad member posts and 248 Panchayat Samiti member wards.
The ward-wise reservation lottery was also conducted for Panchayat Samiti member posts in Nawalgarh. According to the available list, reservation was determined across 17 wards.
Wards 8, 11, 13, 14 and 16 are unreserved open wards, while wards 3, 5, 6, 10, 12 and 15 are reserved for unreserved women. Wards 7 and 17 are reserved for OBC open candidates, and ward 4 is reserved for OBC women.
Wards 2 and 9 are reserved for Scheduled Caste open candidates, while ward 1 is reserved for Scheduled Caste women. No ward has been reserved for Scheduled Tribe open or Scheduled Tribe women candidates.
Thus, among the 17 Nawalgarh Panchayat Samiti wards, six are reserved for unreserved women, five are unreserved open, two are OBC open, one is OBC women, two are Scheduled Caste open and one is Scheduled Caste women. No ward has been reserved for the Scheduled Tribe category.
Reservation for Panchayati Raj institutions is determined under the rotation system. Therefore, the reservation category of a Panchayat Samiti, ward or other post in the previous election does not necessarily remain the same in the subsequent election.
The Pradhan post and Panchayat Samiti member wards in Nawalgarh have also been determined through this process. The previous reservation status of a ward therefore cannot be used to determine its reservation category for the current election.
Following completion of the district-level reservation process for Pradhan and Panchayat Samiti member posts, the next stage will take place at the Gram Panchayat level.
The reservation lottery for Sarpanch and Ward Panch posts will be conducted at the SDM office on September 24. The process will determine the reservation status of these posts in Gram Panchayats under the Nawalgarh Panchayat Samiti area.
Across Rajasthan, the reservation process for Sarpanch and Ward Panch posts is also scheduled at the subdivision level on September 24. In Jhunjhunu district, reservation for 389 Sarpanch posts and Ward Panch posts is scheduled to be determined through this process.
The reservation lottery process for the 2026 Rajasthan Panchayati Raj elections was initially proposed for September 17 and 18. It was subsequently postponed, with September 23 and 24 fixed as the revised dates.
Under the revised schedule, the district-level reservation process for Zila Parishad members, Panchayat Samiti Pradhan posts and Panchayat Samiti member posts was conducted on September 23, while the reservation lottery for Sarpanch and Ward Panch posts is being conducted on September 24.
The completion of the reservation process does not by itself announce the dates for the Panchayati Raj elections. The formal election schedule will be issued separately by the State Election Commission.
With the reservation status of the Pradhan post and Panchayat Samiti member wards now determined in Nawalgarh, the reservation process at the Gram Panchayat level on September 24 will determine the status of Sarpanch and Ward Panch posts.
