Why is Neeraj's Name Missing? Know the Reason

It remains unclear why Neeraj Chopra's name was removed from the entry list. In Nadeem's case, it is speculated that his recent calf muscle surgery may be the reason. The top Pakistani athlete underwent the surgery at the end of last month, raising questions about his fitness.

Earlier, on July 9th, the organizers of the Silesia Diamond League officially announced that Neeraj and Nadeem would participate in the competition. Following this announcement, athletics enthusiasts were anticipating a thrilling contest between the two South Asian giants. In particular, seeing them compete after the Tokyo Olympics and the World Championships would have been special for the fans.

Even in the absence of Neeraj and Nadeem, the javelin throw event at the Silesia Diamond League will still feature b competition. The entry list includes big names such as Julian Weber of Germany, Anderson Peters of Grenada, Julius Yego of Kenya, and Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, Dean Roderick Genki of Japan, Andrian Mardare of Moldova, and Cyprian Mrzyglod of Poland will also be challenging in the event.

Neeraj Tops the Diamond League Standings

Neeraj Chopra is currently jointly at the top of the Diamond League standings with Julian Weber. Both have 15 points each, making them b contenders for the final. Neeraj has participated in two Diamond League competitions this season—winning one title and securing second place in the other.

Even if Neeraj does not participate in Silesia and the Brussels stage on August 22nd, he still has a b chance of qualifying for the Diamond League final in Zurich on August 28th. The top six athletes in the standings after the Brussels stage will qualify for the final.

Neeraj's Recent Performance

Neeraj's last competition was the NC Classic held in Bangalore on July 5th, where he won the title with an impressive throw of 86.18 meters. This competition was special because it was held on Neeraj's home turf, and he displayed excellent form. On the other hand, there is currently no clear update regarding Arshad Nadeem's return.

The recovery time after his surgery may affect his future schedule. Fans are hoping that he will recover quickly and return to the field so that they can witness the classic Neeraj-Nadeem clash once again.
