Ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections in 2025, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at an event in Gayaji, once again reminded the public of the Lalu-Rabri era, questioning them about the state of affairs before 2005.
Bihar Election 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar evoked memories of the Lalu-Rabri regime from the stage during PM Narendra Modi's program in Gayaji. He asked the people what the situation in Bihar was like before 2005—how dire it was, with people unable to even dress properly, no work done for women, and no efforts made for the Muslim community.
Nitish Kumar stated that after his government was formed, work was done for everyone, and now all schemes are being implemented properly. He also mentioned that schemes worth over ₹13,000 crore are being inaugurated today, which will greatly benefit Bihar. For this, he heartily thanked Prime Minister Modi.
The Situation in Bihar Before 2005
CM Nitish Kumar began his address by stating that the condition of Bihar before 2005 was very poor. He said that there was no concrete development in the state at that time.
- There was no adequate social security.
- There were no schemes for women and minorities.
- Basic amenities were not available for the general public.
Nitish Kumar said, "After our government was formed, planned development work started in every sector. Now Bihar is continuously progressing in all sectors, including education, health, roads, and electricity."
CM Highlights the Achievements of the NDA Government
During PM Modi's program in Gayaji, the CM stated that his government has inaugurated schemes worth over ₹13,000 crore. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this. The Chief Minister listed his achievements as follows:
- Electricity Availability: Under the 'Har Ghar Bijli' scheme in 2018, electricity was provided to all households in the state. Now electricity is completely free.
- Social Security Pension: The pension provided to the elderly, disabled, and widowed women has been increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100, benefiting 1.12 crore beneficiaries.
- Employment: So far, 10 lakh government jobs and various employment opportunities have been provided to 39 lakh people. The target is to provide employment to 1 crore youth in the next five years.
- Industry and Investment: Special incentives for the establishment of new industries in the state. Special annual assistance will also be provided with the cooperation of the Central Government.
Development of Gaya and Bodh Gaya
CM Nitish Kumar said that lakhs of devotees and tourists visit Gaya and Bodh Gaya every year, but the situation was very bad before. Construction of 'Sita Setu' through a rubber dam on the Falgu River. Establishment of the Mahabodhi Cultural Center. Gaya has been renamed 'Gayaji'. Nitish Kumar said, on one side there is Bodh Gaya and on the other side, there is Gayaji. We have ensured every necessary arrangement here.
The CM emphasized that special schemes have been implemented in Bihar for the welfare of women's safety, the elderly, youth, and the disabled. He mentioned a special amount in the budget for the development of the Makhana Board, Airport, and Kosi region with the cooperation of the central government.

- Special industry and employment schemes.
- Improvements in infrastructure such as education, health, and roads.
Nitish Kumar said, "We have worked for the welfare of every section and have resolved to make Bihar a progressive state." The CM thanked Prime Minister Modi and said that after the elections, Bihar will receive special annual assistance. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the newly constructed Ganga bridge in the state will also be inaugurated, which will provide more facilities to the public in Begusarai.
