Victims injured in a severe fire incident in Noida recounted their experiences from hospital, stating that at the time of the incident it felt as if death was all around them. The fire spread rapidly, leaving people with no time to react as they struggled to escape through smoke and flames.
Hospitalised victims said the blaze intensified so quickly that they had no opportunity to gather belongings or plan an escape. People ran in different directions to save their lives as thick smoke made breathing difficult. Several individuals screamed for help, children cried, and women called out for assistance.
Ashu, one of the injured, said from his hospital bed that there was no clear path to escape. He stated that flames surrounded them on all sides, making it impossible to decide which direction to take. According to him, people struggled between life and death for about fifteen minutes after the fire broke out. He added that many lost consciousness due to heavy smoke.
Victims said the incident occurred suddenly, leaving no time to respond. Many people fled carrying their children, while several families were separated during the chaos. Some broke windows to escape, while others used rooftops to get out. However, the intensity of the flames made evacuation extremely difficult.
A woman victim said she attempted to re-enter a burning room to rescue her children. She stated that there was smoke everywhere and only screams could be heard. According to her, people were calling for help but could not reach one another. Several individuals sustained severe burns to their hands, legs, and faces.
Treatment of the injured is ongoing in hospital. Doctors said that the condition of some patients remains critical. Several individuals have been placed on oxygen support due to breathing difficulties. The hospital premises have seen a large gathering of relatives awaiting updates on their family members.
Following the incident, administrative authorities and rescue teams reached the site and carried out relief operations. Firefighters brought the blaze under control after several hours of effort. Officials said that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Victims’ families alleged that the extent of damage could have been reduced if assistance had arrived in time.
