A fire caused by a suspected gas cylinder leak broke out at a labour camp in Noida on Monday, triggering panic among residents. The blaze spread rapidly and engulfed two tin sheds, destroying household belongings, clothes, bedding and other essential items stored inside.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started after a gas leak from a kitchen cylinder. The flames quickly spread to nearby tin sheds, fuelled by tin structures and other combustible materials. Workers and their families fled the camp to protect themselves, while several people managed to move gas cylinders to a safer location in time, preventing a larger accident.

After receiving information about the incident, local police and fire department teams reached the spot immediately. Firefighters first evacuated the surrounding area to prevent the fire from spreading to other huts and tin sheds. Three fire engines were deployed, and the fire was brought completely under control after about 45 minutes of continuous firefighting and rescue operations.

No casualties have been reported in the incident. However, two tin sheds were completely destroyed. Daily-use household items, clothes, food supplies and other essential belongings of the workers living there were destroyed in the fire.

The administration is assessing the damage and has initiated the process of providing necessary assistance to the affected families.

Fire department officials said the preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was caused by a suspected gas cylinder leak. However, the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.

Experts will also examine whether there was any technical fault in the gas cylinder, regulator or gas pipe.

Officials have appealed to the public to follow all safety standards while using cooking gas cylinders. They advised people to immediately shut the regulator if they smell gas, avoid operating electrical switches and inform the concerned agency or the fire department. They also recommended periodic inspection of gas pipes and regulators to help prevent similar incidents.

The fire has now been completely extinguished, and the area has been declared safe. Police and the fire department are jointly investigating the incident, while the administration has assured all possible assistance to the affected labour families. A detailed assessment of the losses is also underway.
