Noida STF arrested wanted criminal Shashank Bajaj, absconding for five years, from Ludhiana. The accused was involved in a 2015 murder case and a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for his capture.
Noida: The UP STF has arrested wanted criminal Shashank Bajaj, a resident of Pilibhit, from Ludhiana. Shashank was wanted in a murder case from 2015 and had escaped from police custody in 2020. A reward of Rs 50,000 was also declared for his capture.
The STF team apprehended Shashank with the help of Sahnewal police station, based on an informant's tip. The accused is currently being interrogated after his arrest and has been brought to Noida.
Shashank Bajaj Absconding for 5 Years
Shashank Bajaj, a resident of Jogi pur village, Pilibhit, was wanted in a murder case in 2015. After escaping from police custody in 2020, he had been hiding in various locations. A reward of Rs 50,000 had also been declared for the accused. The STF received information that Shashank might become active again, following which a special team was formed to search for the accused.
Based on the informant's tip, the STF team cordoned off Sahnewal and Deowal Road in Ludhiana, Punjab, and apprehended him. During his arrest, an Aadhaar card and PAN card were recovered from his possession.
Family and Financial Transactions Became Cause of Dispute
During interrogation, the arrested accused Shashank Bajaj stated that in 2015, he had a dispute with Subhash Chandra Sharma, a resident of Badaun, due to family disagreements and financial transactions. The accused's father had deposited mentha worth approximately Rs 6 lakh at Dipu's shop, son of Subhash Chandra Sharma. The dispute escalated when they demanded the money back after the rates increased.
Shashank, along with his family members, shot and killed Subhash Chandra Sharma on May 1, 2015. After the murder, Shashank and his father fled to Dehradun, where they were arrested in a police encounter and sent to jail. In 2019, Shashank was transferred from Badaun to Pilibhit jail.
UP STF Arrested the Accused
A team led by ASP राजकुमार Mishra and DSP नवेन्दु Kumar of the Noida STF unit succeeded in apprehending the accused. The ASP stated that the team had received information about the activity of wanted criminals, and based on that, a special operation was conducted. Several serious cases are registered against the arrested criminal in Badaun, Pilibhit, and Dehradun.
This operation by the STF also sends a message that no place is safe for long-absconding criminals and that the law is always in pursuit of them.
Interrogation Continues After Arrest
The arrested accused is reported to be around 34 years old. The police are currently interrogating him after his arrest and necessary legal action will be taken in all cases. The STF stated that investigations into the accused's other crimes are also underway and justice will be ensured in all cases soon.
Police officials appealed to citizens to immediately inform the concerned authorities if they come across any information about a wanted criminal, so that criminals can be apprehended promptly and legal action can be taken.
