TRE-4: For candidates aspiring to become teachers in Bihar, the TRE-4 (Teacher Recruitment Examination-4) will be conducted in December. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the dates for this examination as December 16 to December 19, 2025. The results of this examination are expected to be released between January 20 and January 24, 2026.
The TRE-4 examination is organized for the recruitment of teachers in government schools across the state. This examination plays a crucial role in the recruitment of teachers for classes 9th to 12th.
Anger and Protest Among Candidates
Following the recent announcement of a reduction in TRE-4 vacancies, dissatisfaction has spread among the candidates. Earlier, it was announced that 1,20,000 posts would be filled through this examination, but now the number of seats has been reduced to 60,000.
Upset by this decision, candidates will gather in Patna on September 9, 2025, to present their demands. Their primary objective is to increase the vacancies for TRE-4 and to request more transparent decisions from the Education Department.
Why Were the Seats Reduced?
Education Minister Sunil Kumar cited the reason for this reduction. The allocation of seats has been made due to the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET-2025) being conducted before the TRE-4 examination. In TRE-4, only 60,000 seats will now be offered, while the remaining seats have been reserved for the TRE-5 examination.
The logic behind this is that only STET qualified candidates can participate in TRE-4. If the STET examination were held before TRE-4, eligible candidates might not have been available for all the previously decided vacancies.
STET Examination Dates and Process
The STET-2025, conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board, will be held before TRE-4. Appearing for STET is mandatory to participate in the TRE-4 examination.
The online application process for the STET examination will open from September 8 to September 16, 2025. The examination will be conducted from October 4 to October 25, 2025, and its results will be released on November 1, 2025. The STET examination will cover all subjects for classes 9th to 12th.
Selection Process in TRE-4
For selection in the TRE-4 examination, candidates' written test performance, merit based on qualifications, and performance in STET will be considered. Following this, selected candidates will undergo document verification, and the final merit list will be released.
The Bihar Public Service Commission ensures that the TRE-4 examination is conducted in a fair and transparent manner. The eligibility, experience, and marks obtained by candidates in STET will be decisive in the selection process.
Key Demands of Candidates
